inhale

inhale

i loved you so much i wanted to dissolve you,

like wax under sunlight,

your body a candle i couldn’t stop worshipping.

i drew you in-

smoke-soft,

sweet, slipping into me

past thought,

into the raw chambers.

for a moment

we weren’t lovers,

we were one fever,

one long inhale,

your essence riding my blood

like jazz at midnight with an

old-fashioned in our hands.

and then-

trembling-

i gave you back.

exhale.

you returning to shape,

to skin,

to your own beautiful gravity,

whole again,

standing there

with my breath still tangled in you.
